Office of Emergency Management

The Bristol Township Office of Emergency Management is responsible for a wide variety of functions. This information explains the basic duties and responsibilities of this office.

The Office of Emergency Management is staffed by the personnel within the Fire Marshal’s office. The Fire Marshal also serves as the township’s Emergency Management Director, and the 6 Fire Inspectors/Firefighters serve as assistant Emergency Management Coordinators. One of the key functions of this office is maintaining an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). The EOP includes a vulnerability assessment as well as a list of various resources and contacts that may be needed during a disaster.

To support the EOP, the Office of Emergency Management maintains an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) within the municipal complex. The EOC is equipped with numerous two-way radio consoles, computer/internet accessibility, a weather station which can be accessed remotely, as well as radio and TV monitoring capabilities. The radio consoles give us the capability of communicating with all every fire department, police department, emergency medical services, and Sheriffs in Bucks County, as well as several emergency services agencies in the several neighboring counties. This EOC is supported by an emergency generator should this area experience a power outage.

During disasters situations, the Emergency Management Director will coordinate the operation of our local resources such as our fire companies, rescue squads, police department, and public works. The Emergency Management Director is also responsible for coordinating with outside agencies such as; the American Red Cross, Bucks County Emergency Management, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the US. Coast Guard, and Pennsylvania National Guard.

To promote emergency preparedness, the Emergency Management Director hosts an annual meeting with representatives from Bristol Twp. Public Works, Bristol Twp. Police, Lower Bucks Hospital, Silver Lake and Legacy Gardens Nursing Homes, Bristol Township School District, Bucks Co. Technical High School, and Conwell-Egan High School. In addition, the Emergency Management Director will facilitate emergency planning meetings ahead of major storms that may threaten the safety of our residents or hamper the township’s ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner. In addition to the previously mentions groups or agencies, these meetings would also involve our fire companies, rescue squads, Building & Zoning Dept., Township Manager, and elected officials.

If you have questions regarding emergency management, please do not hesitate to contact the Emergency Management Director, Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm @ (267) 812-2907. You can also email the Emergency Management Director at kdippolito@bristoltownship.org.
