2024 Per Capita Tax
Update: Spoke to Berkheimer. Balances for 2024 will be processed to $0.00 and any payments received will be returned to the taxpayer. Berkheimer will also inform their Customer Care Department of the change so that they can let anyone who calls know that their payments will be returned to them if sent in already. Click here to review the ordinance repeal. This is for 2024 Per Capita Tax only. Any ongoing Per Capita Tax concerns prior to 2024 are still binding.

Please disregard any 2024 Per Capita Tax invoice you may have or do receive. I have a call into Berkheimer to clear up any confusion. Bristol Township Council did repeal the ordinance and tax in December 2023. My apologies for any confusion.

2024-2028 Refuse, Recycling, Yard Waste & Bulk Contract

The Township’s Contract is expiring this year. With the increase of pricing seen in those municipalities that contract for refuse, recycling, yard waste and bulk collection, a strategic bid proposal was prepared and sent to six haulers. Three haulers submitted bids. With trying to receive the best price for our residents the potential change for bulk collection, containers for Township use and collection at our 33 parks was crafted. These are the highest priced items that could be modified to seek monetary relief. We were fortunate and had two bids very competitive.

The lowest bid received removed collection at our parks from the hauler, which will now be completed by Public Works and the change to once-a-month bulk collection, with the requirement to call in and schedule your pickup. With the expiring contract, the hauler is running trucks on every street to see if there is bulk to collect. There may have been times only a few bulk items are out per section, but the residents are paying as if every resident is placing bulk out weekly.

We understand change is frustrating. The bid package presented all the alternatives to find the most economical and responsible cost for collection and disposal. The Township will have two Clean Up Days (one in the spring and one in the fall) where household items can be disposed of. The calendar provided by Waste Management shows the new bulk collection schedule.

Click here to view the bid tabulation showing the costs of all the alternatives structured to be able to award a contract with the least impact on our residents. Click here for the full bid specifications.
